What happened: Elliotte Friedman said Thursday he is hearing veteran forward David Perron will join the Dallas Stars. The move follows time in Ottawa and a deadline move back to Detroit.

Why it matters: Dallas adds veteran depth to its forward group without altering its core. A career of this length brings leadership and secondary scoring experience to a contending room.

What to watch: Watch for official confirmation and where Perron slots in during camp.
