"Baltimore got a superstar when they signed this guy." ⭐️ @TheMayorsOffice breaks down Pete Alonso as the O's first bas Via @MLBNetwork on X

What happened: MLB Network analyst @TheMayorsOffice called Pete Alonso a superstar signing while assessing the first baseman's second-half production. Alonso went deep again Wednesday after a 4-for-4 performance Tuesday.

Why it matters: The surge adds weight to an MVP case that remained outside MLB.com's latest top-five poll. It also strengthens the impact of his first season after signing.

By the numbers: Alonso's two-run homer Wednesday was his 32nd of the season. He collected four hits and four RBIs one day earlier.

What to watch: Watch whether Alonso sustains the power run through the final month of the regular season.
