What happened: The Philadelphia Phillies officially signed LSU pitcher Deven Sheerin following his selection in the fourth round of the 2026 MLB Draft. The organization secured the 128th overall pick with a reported $600,000 signing bonus.

Why it matters: Sheerin adds a high-velocity arm to the Philadelphia development system. The former Mount St. Mary's transfer returned to the mound in 2026 after recovering from a torn ACL and flashed a fastball capable of reaching 100 mph for the Tigers.

By the numbers: The major league Phillies hold a 50-45 record this season and enter their scheduled game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with the season series tied 2-2.

What to watch: Sheerin will report to the organization's minor league complex to begin his professional career.
