What happened: MLB Trade Rumors lists Milwaukee assistant GM Matt Kleine among candidates for Houston's vacant general manager job. Kleine has been in the Brewers organization since 2007 and holds the assistant GM title.

Why it matters: Houston is navigating a leadership transition with the GM chair open entering the offseason. The choice will direct roster construction and the managerial search after Espada's departure.

What to watch: Interviews and additional finalists will clarify Houston's timeline for a hire. An appointment would set the offseason agenda before winter moves accelerate.
