What happened: Nashville reassigned the defenseman to its American Hockey League affiliate in Milwaukee on Sunday after placing him on waivers a day earlier. Ahcan had been with the Predators since surviving the team's final September training camp cuts.

Why it matters: Shifting Ahcan to Milwaukee opens an active roster spot on the Nashville blue line during the opening month of the 2026-27 regular season. Clearing waivers allows the organization to retain him as experienced call-up depth in the minors.

What to watch: Nashville returns to Bridgestone Arena on Sunday night for a 7 p.m. CT puck drop with its adjusted defensive rotation.
