What happened: Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez publicly questioned why criticism consistently targets his club and not rivals, singling out Atlético Madrid. "Why do they never go against other clubs? Why never Atlético Madrid? Always Real Madrid," Pérez said, per Fabrizio Romano. The remarks extend a run of combative public messaging from the president.

Why it matters: The comments land amid Pérez's election push and his allegations of a coordinated campaign against the presidency. Framing Atlético and the broader media ecosystem as antagonists is consistent with his recent stump rhetoric, including jabs at LaLiga and defenses of booed players. The posture matters because it signals how Pérez intends to mobilize the socio base ahead of the vote.

What to watch: Watch for Atlético Madrid's response, any LaLiga reaction, and whether Pérez expands the argument in subsequent campaign appearances.
