What happened: Purdy's 11-yard throw to Kittle closed the opening drive for a 7-0 San Francisco lead. The game aired on ESPN.

Why it matters: Early points put Washington in chase mode in a 2026 regular-season game. The connection pairs San Francisco's 2022 seventh-round pick from Iowa State with its 2017 fifth-round pick from Iowa.

By the numbers: Purdy: 197-of-284 for 2,167 yards, 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 9 games in 2025, per ESPN. Kittle: 57 catches for 628 yards and 7 touchdowns in 11 games in 2025, per ESPN.

What to watch: Washington's next drive offers an early response chance.
