What happened: The Standard Player Agreement runs through 2028-29 ahead of the club's 2026-27 inaugural season. San Jose selected the Wisconsin defender June 17 as the first of six choices in its first draft.

Why it matters: Nine teammates hold two-year terms and four hold one-year terms, leaving her as the lone long-term commitment. General manager and head coach Troy Ryan cited her character and upside as central to the build.

By the numbers: She totaled 199 points in 151 collegiate games, winning three national titles in four seasons. Her 35 goals topped the nation during a 71-point 2024-25, followed by 45 points in 28 games last season. Internationally, she earned Olympic gold in Milan and 2024 Worlds MVP honors at age 20.

What to watch: San Jose still must sign the rest of its June draft class to complete its first roster.
