What happened: Toronto lists Malachi Smith as its No. 18 guard for the 2026-27 season. The designation places him in the preseason roster group ahead of the opener.

Why it matters: Smith signed an Exhibit 10 deal in August before landing a two-way deal in September after his Nets stint. Toronto entered final cuts with guard depth and one two-way slot still in flux.

What to watch: Final cuts will settle Toronto's two-way group before the 2026-27 opener.
