What happened: The Toronto Raptors have signed guard Malachi Smith to a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 training camp contract. Smith finished the 2025-26 season with the Brooklyn Nets before being waived on July 10 to clear cap space.

Why it matters: Toronto currently has 17 players under contract and no available two-way spots. A forthcoming trade sending Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick to the La Clippers for Kawhi Leonard is expected to open one roster spot.

What to watch: Smith will compete with undrafted center Nate Bittle for preseason minutes and could join the Raptors 905 if cut.
