What happened: Toronto announced the 270-pound center Wednesday, with financial terms undisclosed. Jemison spent last season across 13 NBA games and 31 G League contests.

Why it matters: The move gives Toronto another frontcourt development option without using a standard roster contract. The Kawhi Leonard trade remains the larger roster domino after the NBA ruling cleared the way forward.

By the numbers: Jemison averaged 1.0 points and 1.4 rebounds in 6.3 NBA minutes per game. In the G League, he posted 8.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals in 27.7 minutes.

What to watch: Shams Charania said the Leonard transaction was expected to go through within days. Jemison’s role will come into focus during training camp.
