Velička out eight weeks with quad injury

This is becoming an interesting trend. Usually around this time of year, NBL teams are looking for cuts from NBA trainin Via @OlgunUluc on X

What happened: Brisbane added 34-year-old former NBA guard Raul Neto on a short-term deal. He takes the roster spot of Arnas Velička, sidelined eight weeks with a quad injury. The stint gives Neto game time ahead of Brazil's next FIBA qualifying window.

Why it matters: October NBL openings are usually filled by NBA camp cuts, making an unsigned veteran a direct fit. A short-term guard avoids a long-term roster commitment while covering an eight-week absence. Competitive minutes keep Neto ready for international duty.

By the numbers: Neto, 34, listed at 6-foot-2; Velička absence set at eight weeks with quad injury.

What to watch: Watch Brisbane's backcourt rotation as Velička nears return and whether Neto's stay extends beyond the FIBA window.
