What happened: Tampa Bay Rays outfield prospect Chandler Simpson hit his first professional over-the-fence home run in a spring training game against the Minnesota Twins. The line-drive shot to right field off Dan Altavilla in the bottom of the seventh scored Ricardo Gonzalez, putting the Rays up 3-2. His prior pro homer was an inside-the-parker with Double-A Montgomery Biscuits in 2024.

Why it matters: Known for 102 minor-league stolen bases and contact skills rather than power, this display boosts Simpson's stock amid Rays' outfield battles. Spring hot streak (6-for-13 early) adds intrigue for roster spot.

What to watch: Monitor Simpson's spring power consistency and stolen bases as Rays finalize roster. Watch for promotion buzz post-spring.
