What happened: On The Ringer NBA Show, Justin Verrier said he slotted Orlando at No. 15, higher than Rob Mahoney and J. Kyle Mann. Verrier tied the call to new coach Sean Sweeney restoring defensive identity. The hosts framed the East middle tier as deeper than in recent years.

Why it matters: Orlando drifted from its defensive base while adding little shooting or offense. Recapturing that end sets the floor for movement in a crowded 4-10 race. Verrier framed last season as the nadir for the core with better health available.

What to watch: Watch where Detroit, Miami and Toronto land as Group Chat works through Nos. 15-11.
