What happened: A rival club has offered Roma's free-agent midfielder a reported three-year contract worth €3.5 million per season. He continues to prioritize renewal talks with Roma, with further negotiations expected in the coming days.

Why it matters: The competing proposal exceeds Roma's expected annual offer and gives the midfielder leverage in negotiations. His role could change next season even if he stays.

What to watch: Watch for progress before the midfielder's expected July 13 arrival for preseason training.
