What happened: Prior to knocking down the perimeter shot, Rui Hachimura converted a left-handed layup to reach double figures at 10 points after opening the preseason contest 1-for-7 from the field.

Why it matters: The second-effort scoring stretch builds on an active offseason for the same Rui Hachimura who scored 30 points in an August FIBA World Cup qualifier and logged 19 points in his Oct. 4 preseason opener after signing in July to retain jersey No. 28.

By the numbers: Hachimura progressed from a 1-for-7 field-goal start to 10 points on a left-handed layup and 13 points on a three-pointer, following a 19-point preseason debut on Oct. 4 and a 30-point FIBA World Cup qualifier on Aug. 31.

What to watch: Hachimura continues preseason preparation ahead of the 2026-27 NBA regular-season schedule.
