This will be a theme this season in NFL

What happened: New Orleans held Baltimore to 17 points on Sept. 21. Dan Orlovsky said the Saints defense countered Lamar Jackson operating under center. He called the adjustment a theme to track this season.

Why it matters: Teams went under center at the highest rate since 2017 in Week 1. Defenses copying the Saints approach would force Baltimore to adjust protection and run action around Jackson.

By the numbers: Final: Saints 24, Ravens 17 on Sept. 21; Week 1 under-center rate highest since 2017.

What to watch: Watch Baltimore's under-center versus shotgun split next week and whether opponents copy New Orleans' counters.
