What happened: On Foul Territory, Jim Salisbury said Dave Dombrowski used his end-of-season presser to endorse Don Mattingly's return on a two-year extension. Salisbury said Dombrowski waited to hold the presser until he had spoken directly with Trea Turner and J.T. Realmuto.

Why it matters: Salisbury said Philadelphia still reached the postseason despite an early hole and a late October exit. He said demanding sharper shortstop play from Turner ties directly to 2027 infield stability.

What to watch: Salisbury said the test is whether continuity plus cleaner shortstop play moves Philadelphia past the October exit.
