What happened: Asked on 105.3 The Fan whether he has considered handing off the offense, Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer answered, "No, absolutely not," per Nick Harris. NFL reporter Ed Werder noted that Schottenheimer's play-calling is the reason the franchise hired him as head coach.

Why it matters: Questions around the offensive operation have mounted as the scuffling Cowboys sit 12th in the NFC standings. Because Schottenheimer's mandate rests on directing the attack himself, ceding the call sheet would undercut the core rationale for his tenure.

By the numbers: Dallas is 2-4 on a two-game losing streak after falling 23-13 at the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 18.

What to watch: Dallas hosts the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, where owner Jerry Jones has said the front office intends to buy.
