What happened: Week 8 pairs afternoon windows on ABC and ESPN with primetime slots on ABC and SEC Network. Georgia travels to Auburn for the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry while Texas hosts Florida to open a three-game homestand.

Why it matters: Georgia's road date carries first-place implications with Texas and Ole Miss still ahead on its schedule. Kentucky's climb to No. 15 and LSU's slide to 4-2 after an overtime loss at Kentucky tighten the middle of the standings.

By the numbers: Georgia is No. 1 and Kentucky is No. 15 in the AP poll. LSU is 4-2, Texas A&M is 1-3 in SEC play after losing 3 of 4, Oklahoma is 1-1 in SEC play, Vanderbilt is 0-3 in SEC play. Recent finals: Alabama 56, Mississippi State 23; South Carolina 38, Florida 19.

What to watch: Mississippi State visits LSU and Alabama visits Tennessee to open the weekend slate. Missouri at Ole Miss and Vanderbilt at Kentucky close later windows.
