What happened: José Soriano froze a hitter with a well-located pitch on the corner during his start. The pitch came within a seven-inning outing in which he allowed two runs.

Why it matters: The command on display fits a start that saw Soriano need just 89 pitches to get through seven innings, holding the opponent to two runs on six hits.

What to watch: Watch his next turn through the rotation for whether the strike-throwing efficiency carries over.
