What happened: Jayson Tatum said his relationship with Jaylen Brown remains intact after Brown's move to Philadelphia. The offseason trade ended a nine-season run together in Boston.

Why it matters: That matters because Boston is heading into its first season without Brown, while Philadelphia absorbs one of the NBA's biggest summer moves. Tatum has already said the bond still holds after the trade, giving early shape to how the split is being framed ahead of 2026-27.

What to watch: Training camp will offer the next read on how Boston retools around Tatum and how Brown settles into Philadelphia. Their first head-to-head meeting will be an early checkpoint once the 2026-27 season begins.
