Tedesco gets two-match ban; Gaetano suspended one game

Saputo is barred through Sept. 30.

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Sep 81 min read

What happened: Serie A fined Tedesco €5,000 after his dismissal and postgame protests following Bologna’s 2-2 draw with Sassuolo. Gaetano received a €10,000 fine after his red card at the end of Atalanta’s 2-1 defeat to Roma.

Why it matters: Bologna have one point from three matches, so losing their coach compounds a poor start. Atalanta must adjust its midfield after falling to the league leaders.

By the numbers: Bologna sit 15th with a minus-2 goal difference after three matches. Atalanta are eighth on six points; Roma lead Serie A with nine points and a plus-9 goal difference.

What to watch: Bologna are preparing an appeal; Tedesco is otherwise set to miss Napoli and Torino.
