What happened: First-year receiver Andrew Armstrong, out of Arkansas, moves up from the Kansas City practice squad to an active contract on Friday. Running back Nate Carter joins the practice unit in a corresponding backfield addition.

Why it matters: The elevation provides immediate depth at wideout with Rashee Rice, Jaylon Moore, and Brashard Smith ruled out for Sunday night's matchup against the Seahawks. It continues a busy week of roster maneuvering for a Kansas City club that designated Cooper McDonald to return while listing both McDonald and L'Jarius Sneed as questionable.

What to watch: Kansas City faces Seattle on Sunday night, when Armstrong will have his first opportunity to dress for regular-season action.
