What happened: Right-hander Cameron Flukey, Detroit's first-round pick at No. 22 overall, has signed for a reported $3.8 million, about $282,000 below the assigned slot value. Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline first reported the deal.

Why it matters: The savings give the Tigers more room within their bonus pool to sign prep and JUCO picks who could otherwise honor college commitments instead. Eighth-round third baseman Robert Omidi and 11th-round first baseman Will Adams are among the prep signees Detroit still needs to lock up.
