What happened: The Toronto Blue Jays honored left-hander Tim Mayza on Tuesday during his return to Rogers Centre with the Philadelphia Phillies. Mayza, who spent seven seasons in Toronto, was the longest-tenured member of the team at the time of his departure in 2024.

Why it matters: Mayza was a staple of the Toronto bullpen from 2017 to 2024, appearing in over 300 games for the franchise. Now a key reliever for the NL-leading Phillies, his homecoming marks a significant moment for both the player and the fan base following his veteran service in the city.

What to watch: The Phillies and Blue Jays continue their interleague series through Thursday, with Mayza expected to provide left-handed depth against Toronto's core hitters.
