What happened: Ilia Topuria announced plans for his return to the Octagon, stating that his previous defeat has increased his competitive drive. The former champion declared he is ready to face any opponent the UFC presents for his next bout.

Why it matters: The targeted return follows Topuria being stopped by Justin Gaethje for the undisputed lightweight title in June. Re-entering the division's title picture requires navigating a crowded field of contenders. A victory in his comeback bout would re-establish his standing at the top of the division.

What to watch: UFC matchmakers will determine his next matchup and date as upcoming fight cards are finalized.
