Third-generation of Cruz in the Major Leagues 👏 Welcome to The Show, Trei! https://t.co/P0DzeD7JUz

What happened: The Detroit Tigers announced the promotion of Trei Cruz to the major leagues. His arrival marks the third generation of the Cruz family to reach the big leagues, the latest member to earn a spot on an MLB roster.

Why it matters: The move adds another chapter to one of baseball's notable family bloodlines. For Detroit, it brings a fresh name onto the roster as the club navigates the 2026 regular season.

By the numbers: Per the Tigers, Cruz's promotion makes the Cruz family the fifth in MLB history to have a grandfather, father, and son all reach the majors, joining bloodlines such as the Bells (Gus, Buddy, and David and Mike).

What to watch: Watch for Cruz's MLB debut and how Detroit folds him into the lineup over the coming days.
