What happened: Trey Mancini made a triumphant return to the major leagues, recording an RBI single in his first at-bat for the Los Angeles Angels. Mancini, who had not appeared in an MLB game since July 31, 2023, finished his season debut 3-for-4 with a run scored against the Houston Astros.

Why it matters: The veteran first baseman's return provides much-needed depth for an Angels roster currently missing Vaughn Grissom and Adam Frazier. After spending over two years in the minor leagues with multiple organizations, Mancini's immediate offensive production suggests he could become a stabilizer in the lineup during the summer push.

What to watch: Mancini is expected to remain in the starting lineup as the Angels continue their series against the Astros in Anaheim.
