What happened: Trey Mancini returned to Major League Baseball on Tuesday, suiting up for the Los Angeles Angels in his first big-league appearance in 1,043 days. The veteran first baseman went 3-for-4 in his debut, highlighting a comeback story after nearly three years away from the game. Mancini wasted no time making an impact, lining an RBI single in his first at-bat to give the Angels an early lead.

Why it matters: Mancini’s return provides a veteran spark for the Los Angeles Angels, as he made his mark in his first at-bat back with an RBI single. His successful debut after a three-year retirement stabilizes a lineup searching for consistency amid a challenging start to the 2026 campaign. The 34-year-old provides much-needed infield depth for a roster currently managing multiple injuries.

What to watch: Mancini is expected to remain in the starting lineup for the remainder of the series as the Angels evaluate his long-term fit at first base.
