What happened: The San Diego pair were selected among the National League finalists at their positions. France was listed at first base and the same Fermin who stayed in the game after taking a direct hit October 4 was listed at catcher.

Why it matters: The selections give San Diego finalists in both the infield and the battery. Winners are decided from three finalists at each position across each league.

What to watch: Winners will be named from the finalist groups later this offseason.
