What happened: San Diego's Ty France hit a deep fly ball that struck the roof structure at American Family Field in the ninth inning. The unusual event took place during the conclusion of Game 1 of the National League Division Series in Milwaukee.

Why it matters: Stadium ground rules govern live balls that contact infrastructure above the playing surface. The trajectory introduced an immediate umpiring variable into the final frame of the postseason opener.

What to watch: The series continues with Game 2 under the same venue conditions.
