What happened: The WNBA named Veronica Burton, Jordin Canada, Sonia Citron, Breanna Stewart and Kiah Stokes to the 2026 All-Defensive Second Team. Burton and Stokes both represent the Valkyries, while Canada represents Atlanta, Citron represents Washington and Stewart represents New York.

Why it matters: Two selections reinforce Golden State's defensive foundation during a Finals run against Atlanta. The honor also adds postseason validation for Stewart and Citron alongside breakout perimeter stoppers Burton and Canada.

By the numbers: Valkyries: 2 selections (Burton, Stokes); Dream: 1 (Canada); Mystics: 1 (Citron); Liberty: 1 (Stewart). First Team announced separately: Shakira Austin, Rhyne Howard, Angel Reese, Gabby Williams, A'ja Wilson.
