What happened: Prime Video launches its Friday national broadcast slate with a two-game regular-season window spotlighting the frontcourt star. Wembanyama enters the streaming showcase after he took the top spot in USA Today's ranking of NBA players under 25 earlier this week.

Why it matters: Secured long-term on a $252 million contract extension signed in July, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year anchors the league's national streaming package as a centerpiece draw. Friday's broadcast caps an opening week that already matched him against the reigning MVP in the season opener.

By the numbers: Wembanyama ranked No. 1 in the 2026-27 projected best defenders poll and enters the campaign pursuing a fourth consecutive league blocks title.

What to watch: Following the early broadcast window, Wembanyama takes the court for the late-night national tip-off at 9:30 PM ET on Friday.
