What happened: The ceremony will be held during Minnesota's Week 9 home game. Peterson earned the honor after playing 10 seasons with the franchise.

Why it matters: Peterson's 2012 MVP campaign remains the most recent by a non-quarterback. His name will become the 28th listed in the Vikings Ring of Honor.

By the numbers: Peterson recorded 11,747 rushing yards and 97 rushing touchdowns in 123 games for Minnesota. He ran for 2,097 yards in 2012, nine short of the NFL single-season record, and earned seven Pro Bowl selections.

What to watch: Peterson will return to U.S. Bank Stadium for the Nov. 9 ceremony.
