What happened: Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams expressed enthusiasm over playing alongside Jeffery Simmons following the defensive tackle's arrival. The two connected on the sideline during Chicago's 34-17 victory over Seattle. Simmons joined the roster after an Oct. 29 trade from Tennessee.

Why it matters: Chicago acquired Simmons to strengthen its defensive front after agreeing to send two first-round picks to the Titans. The move added an interior lineman who signed a three-year, $105 million contract earlier this year. The addition provides veteran defensive stability as Williams continues to lead the offense.

By the numbers: In 2026 through 7 games, Simmons has recorded 38 tackles and 4 sacks. Williams has completed 88 of 124 passes for 1,020 yards with 5 touchdowns and 1 interception in 2026 through 4 games.

What to watch: Chicago continues integrating Simmons into the defensive line rotation. The front office also remains active ahead of the trade deadline while monitoring additional defensive depth.
