What happened: Wilyer Abreu won the 2026 American League Gold Glove Award in right field on Monday. The honor marks his third consecutive season capturing the award.

Why it matters: Abreu becomes the first American League right fielder to three-peat since Mookie Betts won four straight from 2016 to 2019. The achievement solidifies his status as one of baseball's premier defensive outfielders.

What to watch: Voting results for the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award will be announced later this week.
