What happened: The WNBL has confirmed its 2026-27 campaign, branded WNBL27, will tip off on October 15. The league is billing it as its biggest season yet and is promoting free-to-air access for fans across the country.

Why it matters: A firm start date and a free broadcast window matter for a league building momentum around access and audience growth. Opening the season on a national free platform lowers the barrier for casual viewers and supports the WNBL's push to expand its footprint.

By the numbers: The season runs a 109-game schedule, with Round 1 front-loaded into a five-games-in-four-days opening slate staged in Tasmania.

What to watch: Watch for the full fixture rollout and confirmed broadcast details as October 15 approaches.
