What happened: The Cleveland Browns waived Dae’Quan Wright after adding him on Aug. 11. The tight end made no appearances in Cleveland’s two preseason games.

Why it matters: Wright’s return is enabled by temporary court relief in a dispute over fifth-year NCAA eligibility. His move could establish a path for other players who signed professional contracts but remain covered by similar orders.

By the numbers: Wright is among 16 football players granted temporary relief in the Louisiana eligibility case.

What to watch: Ongoing eligibility litigation will determine whether more players can follow Wright’s NFL-to-college path.
