What happened: Yahoo Sports floated a hypothetical trade that would move Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe to a National League team in exchange for an MLB All-Star. It is a proposed scenario, not a reported agreement between clubs.

Why it matters: The pitch follows Yahoo Sports reporting on Oct. 28 that New York has been linked to the Astros and Guardians in trade talks as it weighs a 2027 offensive reset after staff turnover.

What to watch: Watch how the Yankees shape their trade market as the offseason opens and whether Volpe's name surfaces in any club's talks.
