What happened: The New York Yankees hired former major league pitcher Frank Herrmann as supervisor for global evaluation and player development integration, per Joel Sherman. Longtime Yankees scouts Tommy Wilson and Pat Murtaugh will not return to the organization, with Murtaugh retiring. Herrmann joins New York after recently working with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Why it matters: The moves mark an ongoing restructuring of the Yankees' front office and scouting department ahead of the 2027 season. Bringing in Herrmann bridges modern player development integration with international and domestic evaluation. The departures also signal a transition away from veteran scouting personnel as New York reshapes its talent assessment staff.

What to watch: Watch for New York to finalize its remaining front-office and scouting roles ahead of winter evaluation meetings.
