What happened: Yahoo Sports outlined a hypothetical blockbuster trade scenario centered on Elly De La Cruz, who threw out a runner at home on a relay, joining the Tampa Bay Rays. No formal front-office talks or agreements have been announced regarding the infielder.

Why it matters: Adding a dynamic shortstop talent to Tampa Bay's infield core would mark a notable shift from the organization's traditional trade-acquisition model. Any offseason roster pursuit remains speculative while the club continues its October postseason campaign.

What to watch: On the field, the Milwaukee Brewers lead the series 3-1 ahead of their scheduled postseason game at the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, Oct. 28, with first pitch at 8:00 PM ET.
