The #49ers today announced they have acquired LB Deion Jones from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for RB Zamir White. Via @49ers on X

What happened: Jones moves less than three weeks after signing a one-year deal with New Orleans. White changes teams during the final week of the 2026 preseason.

Why it matters: San Francisco adds veteran linebacker depth after two hamstring injuries thinned the position group. New Orleans adds Zamir White amid multiple injuries at running back.

By the numbers: Jones is a 10-year NFL veteran. White carried 12 times for 29 yards in San Francisco's Aug. 20 preseason game.

What to watch: Jones and White have a short runway to secure roles before 53-man rosters are set.
