What happened: San Francisco activated wide receiver Christian Kirk from injured reserve on Saturday to make his 49ers debut, while Minnesota brought running back Jordan Mason off IR to its 53-man roster, per Ian Rapoport. Denver also activated running back Jonah Coleman from injured reserve alongside outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper from the exempt list. Those moves followed Green Bay activating running back Josh Jacobs from the exempt list and Houston activating wide receiver Tank Dell for his 2026 season debut.

Why it matters: The wave of weekend transactions restores key contributors for several NFC and AFC contenders ahead of Sunday's slate. Riding a two-game winning streak at 4-2 (No. 5 seed), Denver regains both fourth-round pick Jonah Coleman and edge rusher Jonathon Cooper after Coleman was placed on injured reserve Sept. 26. Meanwhile, fifth-year back Jordan Mason rejoins 5-0 Minnesota after going on IR on Oct. 19, Josh Jacobs returns for the 4-2 Green Bay Packers (No. 6 seed, three-game winning streak), and Christian Kirk comes off IR ahead of San Francisco's matchup with the 2-4 Atlanta Falcons.

By the numbers: 2026 standings context for teams involved in Saturday's activations: Minnesota Vikings (5-0), Denver Broncos (4-2, W2 streak, No. 5 seed), Green Bay Packers (4-2, W3 streak, No. 6 seed), and Sunday opponent Atlanta Falcons (2-4, L2 streak, No. 9 seed). Jonah Coleman (selected 108th overall in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft) had been on IR since Sept. 26, while Christian Kirk had been on IR since Oct. 15 and Jordan Mason since Oct. 19.

What to watch: Despite the roster activations, Christian Kirk (calf) is listed as questionable for San Francisco's Sunday game against the Atlanta Falcons, while Jonah Coleman (ankle) and Jordan Mason (thumb, after practicing fully all week) also carry questionable designations into Sunday. Tank Dell (knee) is slated to make his season debut for the Houston Texans in Week 7.
