What happened: San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris dismissed the premise when asked if he wants to become a head coach again. Morris said society has an illusion that everybody is a head coach.

Why it matters: Head coach Kyle Shanahan is hoping to keep Morris as his long-term defensive coordinator after cycling through multiple play-callers in recent seasons. Retaining Morris past the 2026 hiring cycle would give an unbeaten 5-0 San Francisco roster rare continuity on the defensive staff.

What to watch: San Francisco takes its 5-0 record into the Week 6 slate while managing roster moves ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
