What happened: General manager John Lynch said San Francisco will focus on the players who are present. Veterans reported Saturday to begin preparations for the 2026 season.

Why it matters: The stance carries Aiyuk's prolonged standoff with the 49ers into training camp. Evaluations can now center on the available roster.

By the numbers: Reserve/left squad status keeps Aiyuk from counting against the 49ers' 90-man roster.

What to watch: Watch for any change to Aiyuk's roster status as San Francisco moves through camp.
