What happened: San Francisco parted ways with the edge defender it promoted on Sept. 20 following a series of autumn roster transactions. He most recently joined the active roster via signing on Oct. 15 after earlier stints on the practice squad.

Why it matters: Opening a spot on the 53-man roster creates room for depth adjustments as the unbeaten club manages its defensive front. The Oklahoma product returns to free agency after providing reserve pass-rush depth since August.

By the numbers: San Francisco owns a 6-0 record, a six-game winning streak, and the No. 1 seed following a 23-17 win on Oct. 19. Selected 160th overall in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Okoronkwo logged two practice-squad elevations on Sept. 10 and Oct. 10.

What to watch: San Francisco can fill the open active-roster spot or bring Okoronkwo back to the practice squad if he clears free agency.
