The #49ers today announced they have signed DL Kevin Givens to the team’s practice squad and released WR Malik Turner fr Via @49ers on X

What happened: San Francisco brought back the seventh-year defensive lineman out of Penn State on Tuesday after cutting him from the roster on Oct. 24. To clear the practice squad spot, the club parted ways with Turner, who had been elevated from the practice squad on Oct. 3 and Oct. 19.

Why it matters: Retaining Givens on the practice squad keeps veteran interior depth in the building for a 6-1 squad holding the NFC's No. 2 seed following Sunday's 29-20 loss in Atlanta. San Francisco ranks 24th in the NFL in pressure rate and continues to adjust its defensive front ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

By the numbers: San Francisco sits at 6-1 (No. 2 seed, L1) and ranks 24th in NFL pressure rate this season. Turner appeared via two practice squad elevations (Oct. 3 and Oct. 19) prior to Tuesday's transaction.

What to watch: Givens is eligible for game-day practice squad elevations as the 49ers prepare for Week 9 and approach the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.
