What happened: MLB spotlighted an 87-year-old Tampa Bay Rays supporter on Thursday ahead of the 2026 Fall Classic. The tribute follows the Rays clinching the American League pennant earlier this week.

Why it matters: The 2026 World Series matchup guarantees a first-time championship for the winning organization. Tampa Bay assembled its current postseason roster largely through trade acquisitions before its October run.

What to watch: Tampa Bay opens the best-of-seven championship series in Game 1.
