What happened: An Air Force service member died after falling during a pregame rappelling demonstration Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The demonstration took place before the UT San Antonio game.

Why it matters: The death overshadowed a Saturday college football game night and shifted attention from the field to pregame safety. Military demonstrations are a prominent part of game-day ceremonies before large crowds.

What to watch: Officials are expected to release the service member's identity and details on the incident.
